Program Description

The Intermediate Care Facilities Division (ICFD) licenses group homes for persons with mental retardation and certify intermediate care facilities for persons with mental retardation through annual inspections.  The ICFD conducts annual on-site and monitoring surveys to ensure the facilities maintain compliance with the health, safety, sanitation, life safety code and habilitative components of the local and federal requirements.  The ICFD also conducts investigations of unusual incidents and complaints and identifies deficiencies that may affect state licensure or eligibility for federal reimbursements under the Medicaid program.
